• Why spend a little more for MetalWorks Steel Shingles?

• How can a MetalWorks Steel Shingles roof save money on energy bills?

  Metal reflects the majority of the sun's rays, so it doesn't retain as much heat as wood, asphalt shingles, tile or cement. This means MetalWorks Steel Shingles could help your attic stay cooler longer, leading to a significant reduction in your energy bills.

  Additionally, all MetalWorks Steel Shingles are Energy Star^® qualified.

• Is the roof noisy when it rains?

  METALWORKS Steel Shingles will not create additional noise. The 400-ton forming process, four-way interlocking design and tight fastening system all contribute to a quiet roof system by eliminating opportunities for reverberation

• Can I walk on my MetalWorks Steel Shingles roof?

  Since MetalWorks Steel Shingles require virtually no maintenance, there should be no reason to do so. Like any roof, care should be exercised. You can discuss specific details about walking on your roof with your installation company.

• Does my home's present roof have to be removed before MetalWorks Steel Shingles are installed?

  In most applications over asphalt, METALWORKS Steel Shingles can be applied directly over the old roof, saving money and eliminating a great deal of mess. In addition, because there is no old roof to dispose of, landfill space is spared, helping to protect our environment. Check your local building code. Building code restrictions may apply.

• How much do MetalWorks Steel Shingles weigh in comparison to other types of roofing?

  MetalWorks Steel Shingles are lighter when compared to traditional roofing products.

• Does the roof need to be grounded?

  Lightning is attracted to the highest surrounding objects, regardless of their composition. Certain municipalities or local building codes may require grounding of the roof.

• What makes the MetalWorks Steel Shingle durable?

  Made from "Galva-Strength" steel, a stable, inorganic material, MetalWorks Steel Shingles resist drying out, splitting, curling, peeling or flaking like conventional roofing products. "Galva-Strength" steel combines zinc, aluminum and carbon steel for unequaled barrier and sacrificial protection from the elements.

• How weather resistant is the paint finish on a MetalWorks Steel Shingles roof?

  MetalWorks Steel Shingles use Valspar's exclusive Fluoropon® coating, a two-coat, high-performance fluoropolymer with weathering characteristics. Its durability and color retention characteristics are the result of the high molecular weight of its formulation. During its application, the molecules in the paint chemically bond to form a durable, long-lasting finish that resists breakdown by ultraviolet rays.
